Hey, when I screw up, I screw up.....

Well, when I question whether the Quad City Times is relevant, I should take the information in the rag as suspicious. So getting back in town from a weekend away, I learn the QC Times screwed up the facts regarding the settlement between the city and the guy trying to open the Hispanic bar/venue in the Village of East Davenport. There is a difference between $5,000 and $500,000. I apologize for relying upon the Quad City Times. My Bad….

I still believe Alderman Lynn and Howard screwed this up. I know first hand Alderman Howard walked the applicant through city hall and tried to grease the process. Alderman Lynn in turn, joined the group of Village businesses that wanted to violate city laws and processes because of skin color and heritage. And lets be honest, if this was a country western bar, nothing would have come of it.

Anyways, I apologize to the City Hall folks for spreading misinformation. Unfortunately, most readers just assumed something stupid like this would come from city hall. And that says something as well.

I liked the comment that you should research your data before you post it.

Hah hahaha, this is just a blog of someone's ideas and thoughts.

What is in the water here where people just default to ass-hole. I used to think people from Davenport were nice, until I moved to The South. It is just hilarious how stubborn people here are.

I imagine to stay in this area you have to be stubborn. The lack of quality jobs and affordable housing motivate most sane people to move to greener pastures.

The few of us sane people that are forced to live here are being punished for something we did in our former lives.

This guy was not welcomed in the East Village because of his track record with Las Bananas and the 50 police calls a weekend there. It had nothing to do with anything but the desire to not have crime in the East Village.

Except for the bar-related crime that's already there.

It had to do with a guy wanting to a bar in a building that used to be a bar. The Association down there should remember that at one time there were 11 bars in two blocks down there. And in a few of them they didn't play nice. And they wonder why business is slow. The bar just didn't fit their plan.

Come on Colonel - stop patronizing the residents of the neighborhoods that just try and keep their areas safe and secure. The issue was not skin color you goof, it was the history of crime at the guy's previous bars. If the County bar had an owner who had a history of hosting crime and drugs, then it would have been opposed too.

Our city staff is to blame for making bad decisions and not consulting with the rest of us before they do so. Staff should not have approved of this use for the place.

One thing we can agree on though - is that Jamie Howard is an idiot. That my friend is far too obvious.

Really, the important thing to learn from this is that the rat at the bottom of the wood pile is Lynn again and again and again. Thanks a lot bill.

Just happened to stop by and was reading about this issue...STAFF IS NOT TO BLAME...when any individual files a request for a liquor license they go through the process. This guy had been out of the Las Bananas business for several years...ever heard of give they guy a change...the "Village People' acted like he was some sort of criminal and do ya think it may have been bad management and owner of LB? It was the "Village People" who rose up and did not want a MEXICAN business in there WHITE area..how many minority businesses are in the Village? Why you idoits think City Hall staff are so wrong is beyond me when all they do is try to help. I think when things don't go you way then they are wrong! Enough said.
